SOS heating Ltd specialise in oil boiler services, repairs & general maintenance for the Cornwall area and cover all types of oil-fired heating and cooking systems. We are a family run Cornish business, based in Hayle & Truro and established in 2003. Many places in Cornwall do not have access to natural gas. So the only alternatives to gas are Oil, Electric and real fires.
Oil-fired heating systems are a lot cleaner and more efficient than real fires and can be used like traditional gas central heating boilers and cookers to heat hot water and central heating. Oil is very efficient and is an extremely safe fuel. Due to the vast range of stock we carry, we are able to repair 99% of faults on the same day. Payment is via Paypal, or if you do not have a Paypal account one can pay using all major debit & credit cards including America Express via the Paypal guest account.

New figures released today from the Oil Firing Technical Association (OFTEC) show that oil is currently the cheapest way to heat your home in the UK.
The figures also show that an oil user can save 192 a year just by converting their boiler to a condensing boiler, which is more efficient and releases much less CO2 than a non-condensing boiler.
Over the last year the average cost of oil heating for a three bedroom house was 894 per annum, which compares favourably with other fuels.
Oil is also one of the most environmentally friendly fuels.

A fire valve is an important safety feature of an oil installation.
BS 5410 Part 1 : 1997 (which is the accepted industry means of compliance with the Building Regulations) requires that a remote acting fire valve should be installed so as to cut off the supply of oil before it enters the building remotely from the appliance in the event of an overheat/fire situation.
A fire valve body must be located externally before the oil supply line enters the property with the sensor at the appliance.
Sometimes historically, this may not always have so easy to achieve as remote sensing fire valves used to be comparatively restricted in length.

Oil Based heating and cooking systems run on domestic kerosene.
Oil-fired boilers require an annual service.
In fact anything that uses a " pressure jet " burner only requires a once a year service, such as a Rayburn 400 series cooker.
However all " vaporising" cookers (cookers that use a wick & stay on permanently) require a 6 month general service to stop them from going out (which is inevitable) & to keep them running at their most efficient.
It is important to keep them regularly serviced otherwise sooty deposits can build up and they no longer work as efficiently.
