Formed in 1911 by the great grandfather of the present Managing Director, Roddy Frew, the firm moved into plumbing and heating contracting under the guidance of the founder's son Alexander Frew who headed the company from 1946 to 1975.
Today, the company is headed by Roddy Frew, and now offers a comprehensive range of property solutions from maintenance and property upgrades to large mechanical installations.
We work for many major private house developers, main contractors, and social housing providers.

We provide our customers in the public and private sectors with an integrated approach to building services including renewable technologies, we also provide our private housing developers, main contracts and social housing providers with a quality building services, design and installation service.
We can offer a full range of services using renewable technology which includes solar thermal and photovoltaic, heat pumps, biomass boilers, rainwater harvesting and heat recovery ventilation.
We have many year's experience working as a sub-contractor and have been associated with a number of prestigious projects in Scotland from private developments to large city centre multi storey contracts.

Below is a selection of complete and current projects we have worked on over the last few years.
External and internal alterations to the existing nursery accommodation located within Pennyburn Primary School.
Upgrading and repairing existing internal components including new kitchens/bathrooms, central heating, re-wiring and all associated trades.
Mechanical and plumbing work on new build social and private housing with district heating.
Build a new community facility including primary school, nursery, library and leisure facilities to replace existing primary school.

This conviction resulted in The James Frew Academy being set up.
The Academy was established in 2017, in collaboration with West College Scotland, to educate our workforce in the James Frew Way.
This dedicated, high quality teaching facility delivers a range of bespoke apprenticeship training, employee development and leadership and management programmes.

James Frew Ltd is now one of the largest privately-owned building services companies in Scotland, providing integrated property solutions, including plumbing, heating, mechanical services, gas maintenance, and building upgrades for the public and private sectors.
Based in Stevenston Ayrshire, Glasgow and Airdrie, we directly employ over 380 people including 45 apprentices.
We are currently seeking to recruit a full-time electrician to join our gas maintenance and installation teams.
As an Electrician, you will mainly carry out inspection, testing and verification of electrical installations, install LD2 alarms systems and central heating systems.
